Correntina

Bathed by the copious Corrente River, a tributary of São Francisco River, the region enchants for the beauty of a nature in constant contrast: the trees sculpted by the sun of the "caatinga" (region of stunted vegetation) and the innumerous rivers and waterfalls which form a kind of oasis in Western Bahia. The varied fauna of the region displays several species of sylvan animals and fish, besides the herons that adorn the sunset with their aerial ballet.

Corrente River Valley is a must for those who look for ecotourism. The visitor may choose between trekking in the woods, off-road circuits and visits to the caves or simply relaxing in the beautiful fluvial beaches, enjoying the landscape in boat rides, fishing or canoeing.
